Our History
In the beginning of the year 1990 the Lord led Bro. Jeff and Sis. Lynn McKee to
move to Benton County and start a church. It all started with
a bible study and 7 people attending at Bass Bay in
Big Sandy, TN. From there they began to look for a church building. Rushing
Creek Baptist offered a one room church located on 69a
and so began “New Beginning Ministry”. It was a small
building with no running water and an out house. But God was in it and
the first year the church grew to 30 members. The first Baptism was held on Feb
20, 1991 at Crooked Creek with 8 baptized. Having out
grown the building it was time to move again. Land was purchased at 8125 Hwy 69a
and was dedicated to the work of the Lord and building began. In Oct 1991 the
building was completed with the church service having 35 members. By May 1994
the church grew to 135 and phase two began (finishing
lower level for fellowship hall, 4 class rooms and bathrooms).
In 2002 the church grew to 200 members and stage 3 began (extending
the sanctuary and fellowship hall along with new offices in the front of
building and adding 3rd level
with 3 rooms for food pantry). We joined the
Church of God and Pastor was ordained as a COG Minister and the church name
became “New Beginning Church of God”.
In 2004 Pastor Jeff was ordained as “Bishop” in the Church of God. With a
vision to reach out to the community we purchased the old junior high building
in Camden and named it “New Beginning Annex South Campus”. Renovation began and
in 2007 the chapel opened with Sunday 8:30am service for those who worked. Work
in progress continues to date with the gym now opened for youth activities and
concerts. This year 2010 the lower level of building is underway for a women’s
shelter and a weight room for fitness. Renovation will continue until the
building is completed. With the vision in sight New Beginning continues to seek
God on ways to reach out to Benton County and provide a safe environment for
youth and county activities.
