Be a Disciple
I have an agenda. The devil has more converts to his cause than Christ has to his. I, for one, am out to change this fact as much as I can. Imagine if you will that the next time you went to church that your preacher got up and said that he realized that he had been teaching you wrong. From this time forward, all members of the congregation in order to remain members must act like Christians. Would you stay a member?
I used to be a Mormon. In order to be a Mormon in good standing one would not just say he was a Mormon, he would have to live as a Mormon as well. Mormonism is a way of life. However, I no longer accept certain Mormon doctrines. As a result I would strongly consider another religion other than Mormonism. But Christianity should be a lifestyle as well. As a matter of fact, when I talk to people about Jesus, one of the most frequent arguments I get concerns hypocrisy. So I encourage all Christians to live like Christians.
There is one chapter in the Bible which makes this very clear, Matthew 25. Read verses 1-14. Here we find the parable of the ten virgins. Note that 5 were smart and the other 5 were considered foolish. The 5 smart virgins lived and acted smart. The others lived and acted foolish. As a result, when the bridegroom came, the 5 foolish were shut out. Is your lamp full of oil and ready to light up the darkness? Or, are you running low on oil? Wouldn’t it be better to have the bridegroom say he knows us?
Now read verses 15-30. Here we find the parable of the talents. Why is Jesus teaching this parable? Do we as Christians believe his teachings? When the word of Christ was sown into you, what happened? Let’s substitute the word gospel in place of talent in these verses. The faithful servants doubled the investment of their master. So if Jesus has invested in you how many other Christians are there now because of that investment? At minimum there should be at least you and someone else. Is there? So if we hide the word Jesus has given us, will we not be slothful? What is the punishment for this slothfulness?
