Tell me about the Eternal Jesus

I feel sad that many preachers choose not to preach the Eternal Jesus. People who are not so informed fall prey to cults who do not believe Jesus is Eternal. These same people fail to appreciate just what Jesus really did for us. Hopefully, by the end of this teaching, you will gain a deeper understanding
of Jesus.

But thou, Bethlehem ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2

This scripture tells us that Jesus is from everlasting. No angel or any other being except God is described as everlasting. And for Jesus to step out of being God to become a human on this earth is equivalent of a King to become beggar in the street. Philippians 2:7 tells us that Jesus took on the form of a servant. This actually makes my analogy about the King pale in comparison.

Why would it be necessary for Jesus to do this? God formed a contract between himself and man. Man violates this contract on a daily basis. Thus, someone who is both God and man is needed to fulfill the contract. Jesus came to this earth to live up to man’s part of the contract as a man. He was punished for things he did not do.

The Bible says that Jesus is to be the ruler in Israel. In a kingdom, the people serve the king. Not just a few, but all of them. They also work for the common good of the kingdom. Do you work for the kingdom?

Christians were called so because they followed Christ. At the time the word Christian was first spoken, Jesus had already died. This should make you wonder what people were doing that caused other folks to call them Christians. I’ll give you a hint, they acted like little Christs. They were good, honest, and benevolent folk. And, it is for those reasons that the church grew so quickly. The way I see it, Christianity is slipping in the United States. There are few places that welcome a church building to be the center place of their town or city. We should start acting like people that would draw others to Jesus.
