Tell me about the Eternal Jesus
There are two reasons for this: One is the most important. Jesus died for us. He died an agonizing death. Painful beyond anything we can imagine. He bore all of this because he loves us enough to give us eternal life. If we don’t take that eternal life he offers so freely, we will suffer eternal death. Eternal, no end, for all time, and forever is what eternal means. Death is not what we normally think of. We think of death where a person is resting nicely in a casket looking very peaceful. Not so in eternal death. People there will be wailing and gnashing their teeth in torment, pain, and agony forever. If you don’t believe Jesus is the sacrifice for you sins, NOW would be the best time to start.
The second reason is the eternal Jesus of the future. Most people envision as this cute cuddly little baby in Mary’s arms, or this cool looking white dude with blue eyes that ought to be on the cover of some magazine because he is so good looking.
Turn to the book of Revelation. This is the description John gives of Jesus: (Rev 1:13) And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
(Rev 1:14) His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
(Rev 1:15) And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
(Rev 1:16) And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.
(Rev 1:17) And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
