What Everyone Should Know About Jesus!
I received an e-mail about what you need to believe to be a republican. One belief was that you should hate homosexuals because Jesus does. Christianity is being painted by the world as the religion of ignorance and hate. The problem is that some Christians are supplying the paint! The real ignorance in Christianity is of the Bible. We study so many books about the Bible that we forget to read the Bible.
Christianity is following Christ. How can you follow Christ if you know little or nothing of him? Who is Jesus? If you don't know the answer to that question, I hope that this teaching will give you hope. Get out your Bible because you’ll need it.
Jesus appears in the Bible first in Genesis and last in Revelation. I am going to quote from the King James Bible. Read 1 Timothy 3:16. God was manifest here on the earth in flesh. That (amongst other scriptures) means that Jesus is God. Where is God first mentioned in the Bible? That's right, Genesis 1:1. Revelation 22:20 is the last verse in the Bible guess who the last name mentioned in the Bible is. That's right Jesus. Jesus is the Alpha (first) and the Omega (last).
Let's look at the name of Jesus. Jesus is the English version of Iesous. Iesous is the Greek version of Yawehoshua (Yeshua) the Arimaic name of our savior. Actually, the name Joshua in English is closer to Yeshua than Jesus is. Yeshua means Yahweh is salvation. The name of Jesus does not mean hate. Salvation is God's gift to us through grace despite the fact that we deserve otherwise. He gives us this despite his dislike of our disobedience towards him.
John 3:17 God did not send his son into this world to condemn it. He sent Yeshua to save the world. We as Christians should be focused on saving the world not condemning it. I am not a homophobe. I don't have an unfounded fear of homosexuals. I don't have a problem with homosexuals. I do have a problem with what homosexuals do sexually. If a person would drive the wrong way down an Interstate Hiway at 70 miles an hour, should we just accept what he is doing? Then why should we accept any behavior as okay that kills people at a higher rate than the general population. I also have a problem with heterosexuals carrying on in the same way. Because of the same reason.
